WHAT FIELDS OF STUDY DOES THE AWS SKILLS DEVELOPMENT BURSARY COVER?

Amazon is inviting students to apply for the Amazon Web Services (AWS) Skills Development Bursary, for the 2027 academic year.

Bursaries will be awarded for studies within the following fields, which are relevant to the technology sector:

Undergraduate Degree studies:

  • Computer Science or Computer Engineering and Information Technology
  • Bachelor of Commerce (specialising in Accounting and Finance)
  • Electrical Engineering / Electronic Engineering / Mechanical Engineering / Mechatronics Engineering / Civil Engineering
  • Bachelor of Education (specialising in Maths and Science)

Postgraduate (Honours, Masters, Postgraduate Diploma) studies:

  • Computer Science or Computer Engineering and Information Technology
  • Bachelor of Commerce (specialising in Accounting and Finance)
  • Electrical Engineering / Electronic Engineering / Mechanical Engineering / Mechatronics Engineering / Civil Engineering

Students with disabilities: Undergraduate and postgraduate degrees in ALL study programmes.

WHAT EXPENSE DOES THE AWS BURSARY COVER?

The full cost bursary will provide cover for the following expenses (up to a capped amount): tuition fees, stationery, books, personal computer, accommodation in residence or private and subsistence.

The bursary will be awarded based on 2 main factors: academic merit and financial need.

WHAT ARE THE ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA FOR THE AWS SKILLS DEVELOPMENT BURSARY?

  • You must be a South African citizen

  • Parents death certificates if deceased
  • Letter from the court stating child support amounts if parents are divorced or affidavit from the parent stating the child support amount received if parents are separated
  • Proof of disability, if applicable
